Empowering Caregivers Through Connection

Navigating the role of caregiving, specifically parenting, can be both rewarding and challenging, especially for those who provide care for individuals within the 2SLGBTQ+ community. When my first child identified as a trans person I had no idea how to parent him. I didn't know anyone who was trans and I didn't have a clue about gender diversity or how my own understanding of gender impacted my children's experience growing up.


I have talked about the importance of community in previous posts. When I was starting out there was a welcoming community for my children, but not so much for me. I was received with grace and a lot of forgiveness into spaces that welcomed my kids, but there wasn't a place that was made just for people who were getting up to speed with their own education, emotions and journey toward meaningful understanding and support. That's why I founded Rainbow Caregivers in the first place.

If you are in a caregiving role and you don't know where to start, reach out. I'm here. I'll listen and I won't judge you for struggling. I want to help because I've been exactly where you are. Don't give up. I'm your community.
